Boom Town Fair is the most unusual event in the festival calender. Creating the most impressive environment imaginable. With individual streets painted like a movie set and mind bending venues behind every door. Totalling 23 venues and 4 nights of pleasure from an exceptionally diverse line-up.
This is the third year of working with Boom Town Fair. I have over the years helped them deliver successful events in different locations around the country. This year we really pushed the boat out. Tripling the capacity and size of the festival from last year.
The build took four weeks to create the movie set streets. I managed the last three weeks of the project. Acting as the production and site office manager. Giving overall support and direction to area managers and directors of the festival. There was a lot to organise and prepare for the live days but luckily had a very strong team working closely with me. As the last week of the build began, I started to hand over all the relevant information to the live day production office managers and focus my attention on event control.
As event controller for Boom Town Fair there is a lot to take in. Working side by side with our health and safety officers to ensure a safe environment to work and play. Along with the Police, Fire Brigade, Ambulance, on-site security, stewards, Council and land owner.
The festival ran extremely well, as all involved gave everything they could to make the event a success. The public enjoyed themselves all day and night and the artists were blown away with the energy and detail that went in to the production.
All round a very positive event that leaves us all pondering…. what happens next year?
